Directions from M1

  • Leave M1 Junction 36, and follow the brown 'Elsecar Heritage' signs.
  • The centre is only 2 miles away from the motorway.

Directions from A1

  • At junction 37, take the A635 exit to Doncaster/Barnsley
  • Follow the A635 and then the A6195 Derne Valley Parkway
  • Keep on the A6195 following the brown tourist signs to Elsecar Heritage Centre, to the Hemmingfield Road Roundabout and take the first exit, almost a hairpin bend. This road twists and turns a bit then turns into School Street.
  • About 0.1 of a mile along School Street, just past Garden Grove on your left, is a right turn onto Tingle Bridge Lane. Here the brown tourist sign is easy to miss as it is quite small and high up on a traffic sign in front of a house on the right hand side of the road.
  • Go to the bottom of Tingle Bridge Lane, past the Elephant & Castle pub and over the railway line - at the T junction, turn right onto Wath Road.
  • Keep on Wath Road, to the Heritage Centre on your left. The car park is past the Heritage centre and at then instead of following the sweeping right hand bent near the bus shelter, go straight ahead to the car park.
